Rivers and Watersports
Water recreation abounds in our area. Woodward Reservoir, just north of Oakdale has 3,200 land acres and 2,800 acres of water. It is a favorite of swimmers, fishermen, sail boaters and water skiers. It has many grassy spots in the campgrounds and picnic area. The Woodward Marina provides groceries and boat rentals as well as bait and tackle. There are great boat launching ramps and an abundance of plant and animal life. Call (209) 847-2139.
Local Rafting companies including River Journey, Sunshine Rafting Adventures offer exciting opportunities to see and experience the local rivers with guided tours, river rafting, kayaking, canoeing, and other activities.
Attractions and Tours
Stanislaus County is in the heart of California's great agricultural northern San Joaquin Valley. This area produces dairy, poultry, almonds, peaches, apricots, grains, and truck crops. In season, roadside fruit and vegetable stands can be seen all along the roads. For the best of the valley produce, visit Bloomingcamp Ranch at 10528 Highway 120. They offer a wide variety of apples, their own cider, nuts, pumpkins, and other fruits and vegetables.
While visiting Oakdale take a scenic trip on the Sierra Railroad Golden Sunset Dinner Train, located at 330 South Sierra, just one block south of the Oakdale Cowboy Museum.
